Zelenskyy Joins Nordic-Baltic Leaders in Estonia to Discuss Defense, Security Cooperation
His visit to Estonia comes after attending an E3-plus-Ukraine meeting involving British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, where discussions focused on broader European security coordination.
Ahead of the NB8 summit, Zelenskyy said he had held talks with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo on strengthening Europe’s missile defense capabilities and advancing a potential agreement related to drone production cooperation. He emphasized ongoing efforts to improve regional protection systems and defense coordination.
In a statement shared via social media, Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine’s focus on enhancing air defense systems and addressing security challenges across Europe, alongside diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching what he described as a “dignified peace.”
He also noted discussions on Ukraine’s ongoing engagement with European and American partners and expressed appreciation for Finland’s continued military and logistical support, including its contributions to Ukraine’s defense needs.
Separately, Zelenskyy confirmed a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, thanking Sweden for its support and underscoring efforts to advance cooperation on defense capabilities, including work toward integrating Gripen fighter jets into Ukraine’s future air force plans.
According to Estonian public broadcaster ERR, Zelenskyy is also expected to meet Estonian President Alar Karis during his visit as part of the summit program involving Nordic and Baltic leaders.
