Provided by AGPThe incident comes after a series of recent drone-related events connected to Ukrainian operations targeting northwestern regions of Russia, particularly energy infrastructure in the Leningrad area. Several drones involved in those operations reportedly ended up crashing inside Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland.
Moscow has previously warned that if Baltic nations or Finland are found to “deliberately provide their airspace” for Ukrainian drone missions, Russia could invoke its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter in response to what it considers an “armed attack.”
Speaking Tuesday, Pevkur stated, “this is the first time we have shot down a drone ourselves.”
The Estonian minister claimed the UAV had been launched by Kyiv as part of an operation targeting Russian territory.
